In a world that moves relentlessly, where instant gratification has become a norm, being patient can be challenging - it IS hard at times. We may find ourselves ready to question why things aren’t going according to our plans or agenda. However, in the spiritual world, patience is not just a virtue but a fundamental attribute of God’s character.
It is important to remind ourselves that there is a bigger plan at work –
God is unfolding His story, in His perfect timing.
In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:11 says,
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart;
Yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9
God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, personally and intimately knows our heart, journey, and even the perfect timing for each season we will face in our lifetime. His patience is a testament to the unconditional love that He has for us. It is a love so vast that He desires no one to be lost. The beauty of God's patience is that it nurtures a transformation within our souls—one that teaches us the sacred art of waiting. It is a gentle reminder that growth, healing, and understanding often take time. In life we learn that every pause or delay in our life is purposeful.
All throughout Scripture, we can read countless stories of God’s patience and faithfulness with His people in different seasons of waiting on Him. Here are three you may be familiar with,
In the Old Testament, we see Abraham and Sarah waiting years for God’s promise of a child. In their waiting, they learned to trust God’s faithfulness, even when circumstances seemed impossible. Their story reminds us that God’s timing is always perfect, even when it looks delayed from our perspective.
We also read about the story of Joseph. He endured years of hardship and waiting, from being sold into slavery to being imprisoned unjustly. Yet, through it all, he remained faithful to God. Ultimately, his waiting led to a position of great influence, and we see God’s purpose for his life.
In the New Testament, we encounter the story of Mary and Martha, who waited for Jesus to come and heal their brother, Lazarus. Despite their initial confusion and grief, in God’s timing, they witnessed God’s miraculous power when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.
Their stories are not just historical accounts but living examples of faith in action. They remind us that waiting on God is not passive; it’s an active expression of our trust and faith in His plans for our lives, trusting that His will for us is good and perfect. It requires us to let go of control and fully rely on His guidance and direction. This can be difficult and scary, but it ultimately leads to a deeper relationship with God and a greater awareness.
As we wait for God’s timing, we learn valuable lessons.

🌿It’s a time when we learn to rely on God even more.
🌿It’s a season of drawing closer and cultivating a more intimate relationship with God.
Practical Reminders and Application
Remember, you are not alone, and God is always faithful.
Remember that He is always with you and has a plan and purpose for you.
Remain in His Word by using your waiting season to deepen your relationship with God through reading and studying His Word. Trust that He is with you every step of the way.
Cultivate patience by focusing on the present moment rather than the things that may or may not come. Cultivate a heart of gratitude to foster a patient heart.
Surround yourself with a community of faith-filled individuals who can offer encouragement, prayers, and understanding during your waiting season.
Use this time to reflect on what the Lord may want to teach you during this time. Consider journaling your thoughts and prayers.
Serve Others and look for opportunities to support others in need. Turning your focus outward allows you to find purpose and fulfillment even in the waiting.
Stay Hopeful: Keep hope alive by focusing on the promises of God, trusting that God is working behind the scenes for your ultimate good.
“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.”

Trusting in God's timing can be challenging, especially when it feels like our prayers go unanswered. We may not see the purpose behind every delay or struggle, but we can take comfort in knowing that God is using those moments to shape us into the person He wants us to be. And when we look back on our journey, we will see how faithful God is, how patient He is, and that every step was necessary for His ultimate plan in our lives.
