Jesus Is Worthy

I was reflecting on this year recently, and I think I can safely say that it was a year that none of us expected. There isn't a single soul that this virus (pandemic) has not affected in some form or fashion. Many lives and small businesses across the nation have changed forever. The world has changed in such a short period of time. It is easy to think more about our surroundings and circumstances. It can be overwhelming, anxiety-ridden for some, unbearable, and just plain 'ole hard.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present

help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.”

Psalm 46:1-2a

I wanted to be reminded of God's goodness. As I was spending time with God, refocusing my thoughts on Him, He reminded me of this poem (of sorts) that I wrote and shared at a ladies' gathering in December a few years ago celebrating who Jesus is.

You see, even though this year looked very different for all of us and threw a "wrench" in what we thought 2020 held for us, I can confidently say that there is one thing that HASN'T changed this year, and His name is Jesus.

Emmanuel-God with us.

During this season of isolation, not seeing family, job losses, quarantine (& quarantining again), hard changes, loss of loved ones, sweet friends, God has been there with you. YOU WERE NEVER LEFT ALONE during this strange, confusing, hard season that we are currently in. He has not changed amidst this pandemic. He IS WITH YOU. Take a moment and let that sink into your heart. He is with you. Always has been and always will be.

"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand."

Isaiah 41:10

Advent season is a time to celebrate the miraculous birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and who He is. It is easy to get swept away in the Christmas season if we aren't careful, and we can miss the opportunity of WHO to celebrate. I encourage you to turn your worries into praising the One who came from heaven above for you and me. God is good. He alone is worthy of celebrating this advent season.

"The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works."

Psalm 145:9

May this "poem" bless you immensely and be a sweet reminder of all the reasons to celebrate Jesus. I encourage you to read it, reread it, let it soak in, and be reminded why He is worthy of celebrating this advent season.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

John 14:27

May the Lord bless you and your families this Christmas season and this coming year! May you find rest in His peace during this Advent season, celebrating Jesus for who He is.

In His love,

Jesus is Worthy

by Jennifer Smith

A baby born in a manger, becoming flesh and blood.

A young boy who comes to know who He is, living among His people.

A young man who performed miracle after miracle, still to this day

A man riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, trusting His Father understanding all and yet still

chose to walk the path to Calvary…for me, for you.

He paid a ransom that no one else would….for us so we could have everlasting life.

Jesus is worthy of celebrating, not because of who I am, but because of who He is.

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because He is:

a firm foundation when all else is falling apart

a quiet Retreat, our Hiding place, and Refuge

He is our Anchor when the waves come crashing in

a Lighthouse, our Courage when fear rises.

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because He is:

a Rock on which we stand

our Fortress, Shield and Deliverer,

He is our Strength and Defense when we are weak

our Rest when we are weary, the Restorer of our soul, our Shepherd

He is Joy, Peace, our Comforter, our Hope

our Redeemer, the Mighty One who saves, our Salvation

He is our Rescuer.

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because He is:

the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the Lamb of God, the Great I AM

He is Faithful and True

the Alpha and the Omega, who is and who was and who is to come,

the Almighty

He is Love the First and the Last and the Beginning and the End

merciful and forgiving, All-consuming

He is Truth, Prince of Peace

Active, the God of miracles, perfect in all of His ways

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because He is:

compassionate, gracious, abounding in love,

the Great Physician, Healer of the brokenhearted

the Author and Perfecter of our faith

He is unstoppable, unchanging, undeniable

the Lover of our soul, the One who has set us free

He is the Son of God, the Messiah, Savior of the world,

He is the Resurrection and Life, the Victorious One, our Savior!

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because He is:

the reason I exist,

the center of who I am.

Jesus makes all the difference.

I am chosen, adopted, delivered from the enemy.

I am redeemed and forgiven, accepted, saved by grace through faith.

the apple of His eye,

I am free from condemnation, fearfully, and wonderfully made,

loved by the Everlasting Father, bought with a price.

I have been set free, alive in Him.

I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me.

I am victorious in the mighty name of Jesus, an enemy of the devil.

I am no longer a slave.

I am a child of the Most High King, His beloved.

Jesus is worthy of celebrating because His name is above all names, He has no rival, there is no equal…nothing compares to my sweet Jesus.

I humbly bow before Him, for there is no other name that can match the powerful, mighty name of Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He alone is worthy.

Exodus 14:14 says this, “I AM who I AM,” and that alone is worthy of celebrating.

He is the indescribable gift given to us from God, heaven coming down to us…

Emmanuel, God with us.
